Welcome to

The editor told me about Connie at My Father’s Barbershop. The fellow who used to cut my hair left town and my wife refused to go out to dinner at her mother’s unless I was cut, trimmed and groomed properly. I was tempted, but my marital common sense (I’m afraid of my wife) prevailed. (Besides, what man can afford a divorce in McKean County with Debbie Babcox as Family Law Master?)

"She has the best hours of any place around," he told me. "She is open Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m."

"She’s open at 6 a.m. on Wednesday and Thursday?"

"That’s right," he said. "And she’s busy, too."

"Do I need an appointment?" I asked.

"No," he said. "That’s the great thing about going to see Connie. It’s on a first come, first serve basis. You seldom have to wait long. She’s very good and very efficient. Connie moves you right along."

With that I followed his advice and drove on over to My Father’s Barbershop.

It is conveniently located at 975 South Avenue. That is on Route 219 going south out of Bradford. It is in the same building as the Custer City Post Office and has a parking lot to use while you’re inside.

"Hi!" Connie said to me as I entered. "Have a seat and I’ll be with you in a few minutes."

In the barber’s chair was one of my buddies. "Hello," he said to me.

"Do you get your hair cut here regularly?" I asked.

"Every two weeks without fail," he answered.

We began chatting about the price of oil and before I knew it I was in the chair. I asked Connie just to clean me up a bit and make me presentable again. That she did!

There was no muss or fuss. Connie knows her business and the very first time she ever cut my hair she pleased me beyond belief. As I was getting out of the chair, another of my friends came in for a hair cut.

"Does everyone get their hair cut here?" I asked.

"Maybe," he said.

When I got home my wife loved me again and I’m sold on Connie and My Father’s Barbershop. You’ll have to call her at 362-4880.
